Heshmat Jazani (aka Djazani)
Heshmat Jazani, an Iranian painter, poet, and translator, was born in Natanz Iran in 1930. He passed away on April 16, 2017.
Academic Life
Dr. Jazani graduated from Teheran University’s Fine Arts Faculty. He studied in Italy at the Central Institute of Restoration and Rome’s Fine Arts Academy. He studied at the faculty of history of art for four years from. And obtained postgraduate degrees. Returning to Teheran, he lectured history of art at the National University of Teheran for 16 years.
Professional Life
With his in-depth knowledge of French, Italian, and English in addition to his native Persian he has translated works of such poets as Rainer
Translations
Maria Rilke, Garcia Lorca, Mandelstam, Akhmatova, Eugenio Montale, Octavio Paz, Seamus Heaney, Paul Eluard, many others and his poetry collections.
He has translated several books on the history of art.
Retirement in Ireland
He has been living in Ireland since 1986 and is now retired. He continues to paint, write poetry and translate international poetry and literary essays.He has also contributed to and collaborated with different literary magazines.

حشمت جزنی در سال ۱۳۰۸ در شهر نطنز دیده به جهان گشود. وی پس از اتمام دوره ی تحصیلات دانشگاهی خود در دانشکده ی هنر دانشگاه تهران برای ادامه ی تحصیلات به ایتالیا رفت. ایشان در دانشکده هنر دانشگاه رم پس از پایان یک دوره ی چهار ساله مدرک دکترای خود را اخذ و راهی تهران شد. در تهران به مدت ۱۶ سال به عنوان استاد دانشگاه ملی به تدریس مشغول بود
مسلط به زبان فرانسه – ایتالیایی و انگلیسی و همچنان زبان مادری خود فارسی اشعار و کتب متعددی را ترجمه کرد از جمله آثار گارسیا لورکا – مندلستم – اخماتووا – اکتاویو پاز – پول الوآرد و غیره
ایشان کتب متعددی در رمینه ی تاریخ هنر نیز ترجمه کرده
وی از سال ۱۳۶۵ در ایرلند دوران بازنشستگی خود را سپری می کند. او همچنان اوقات خود را با نقاشی – سرودن شعر و ترجمه ی آثار برگزیده ی ادبی جهان سپری می کند. ایشان در طول دوره ی تدریس و هم اکنون به همکاری با مجلات ادبی ادامه می دهد
